Site News: Webcomic Info and a Personal Announcement
Doug — Jun 25, 2010 21:46:49

I'm working on a webcomic. I've been working on "a webcomic" of some kind for over 2 years now, but this basis for this "webcomic of some sort" has change. I've worked on it with 3 different people, and had 4 different ideas to base it around. I had such ideas as a crew on a starship and their antics, 2 roommates and a homeless Frenchman that start up an electronics story, a planet/time/dimension-hopping soldier in a never ending war across time and space, and even just a "Joke-a-Day" one-off comic. Only in the past 6 months have I decided to buckle down on an idea, script it out, draw it, and put it out on the web without a partner. I almost had a buddy write it, but that idea fell through. I'm working on it as we speak. There's a slight tweak on mine that I, for one, don't see too often. Maybe there are plenty of people who do this and I don't know any, but here's what I'm doing:

An Ecoticity First: A Guest Reviewer!
Doug — May 5, 2010 09:24:57

Don't judge me as lazy, simply judge me as unobservant and considerate. First things first: I know an author by the name of Adam Knave. He writes books, writes a blog, writes one "webcomic," and writes a different soon-to-be deceased webcomic. This man is an amazing person, just so you know. He is a great author, an awesome person to talk to, and a man who has read some of the Losers comics, something I have not done.

Quick Update
Doug — May 3, 2010 17:12:25

Just wanted to pop in and say that I will be updating with one (or more) review(s) per day each Wednesday. It is no longer Tuesday, it is now Wednesday. Why? My movie night was forcibly moved from Sunday to Monday. Thanks for understanding.

Important Comic Announcement! Also: Ranting!
Doug — Apr 12, 2010 20:50:43

It has come time to talk about the state of the Eco. As you may have noticed, I changed up the site æsthetics again. Before you berate me for my fickleness, I must say that this design is sticking for a good while. The last 4 site designs I did (AFK 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, and Ecoticity 1.0) were always a matter of "Well, it looks better than the last one, I guess I'll settle for it." Ecoticity V2.0 is, however, less of a matter of settling and more of a matter of "This looks freakin' awesome! Let's stick with this!" I am, for once, impressed with my site. This'll be sticking.

The New Ecoticity Schedule
Doug — Feb 21, 2010 22:13:31

I realize I need to keep myself busy. This whole "Update whenever I feel like" thing I've been doing on AFK for the past few months is absolute crap. It's not fair to you guys, and it's keeping me off task. So I figure I'm going to set a schedule for you guys. Keep in mind this is open to change in the upcoming weeks as I get situated in the site, but this is what I plan to do.

A Brief History of the AFK.
Doug — Feb 20, 2010 00:04:39

AFK for Life was my first major attempt at a website. It was a disgustingly basic website. Sporting a very 90s red background, a name created at literally the last minute, a sketch portion (mostly because I just desperately wanted content), and a loose promise to keep constant updates. I created it as a web-based home for my video game reviews I did for my local newspaper, but, really, I only made it to actually put my very light HTML skills to use. If you actually look at the old site (ignoring the fact that, as of right now, you can't), you'll see that I kept a fairly constant update schedule going. I updated once a week fairly regularly.

What'd I Miss?
Doug — Feb 13, 2010 14:28:26

My last post (January 1st) was filling in a gap between October and January, not very well, might I add, but filling it nonetheless. I am posting roughly 1.5 months after the last one to send some input your way regarding my thoughts on some stuff that has happened. Bear with me as I try to remember what happened in January and the first half of February of 2010.

Want Inane Rantings? Look No Further!
Doug — Jan 1, 2010 14:02:35

Okay, I've been gone for a long while. Time to catch up.

Happy Halloween! I hope you all had a great time loitering around, bouncing from house to house, bar to bar, or hosting your own Halloween party! I hope your costumes were well thought out and brilliantly executed.

Happy Thanksgiving! I don't know about you, but my Thanksgiving was fantastic. Great meal: some of the best meat I've ever had (prime rib, because my family hates turkey), incredibly great stuffing, garlic bread, the works. I do hope you all had a Thanksgiving as good as mine, and that you all got to catch up with your families.

Getting closer. Merry Christmas, to the Christians out there! Happy Hanukkah, to my Jewish readers! Happy Kwanzaa, to all my American Black readers! And, to my fellow Athiests, Happy December 25th. Read more beyond the link.

Preparing for the Zombie Apocalypse.
Doug — Oct 4, 2009 11:14:11

I know that I haven't been updating in a long time. I still update frequently on Twitter, so you can still follow me there to get adequate updates. Also, if you've been following me, you know I've been promising to write reviews for some time now. I owe you, what 5 of them now? Ich. I'll see how many I can do in due time.

As thanks for keeping with me in these trying times, I present unto you an article on staying alive in the Zombie Apocalypse I wrote for my local newspaper. They made me keep it down with the weapons (I can do one strictly on weapons later, but only for the blog, and only by popular demand). They made me keep it to defense. So, I bequeath unto you "How to Stay Alive in the Zombie Apocalypse."
